New Piano in Chapter Room; Old Piano Finds New Purpose
We have had tremendous support from our alumni in our first year back as a colony. After seeing the condition of our original piano which was out of tune and beyond repair, Brother Donald Larew, 1964 purchased and donated a brand new baby-grand piano for our colony. As a result of Don’s generous donation, we have a gorgeous new piano sitting in our chapter room beneath a picture of Mom Peterson in whose honor the piano was donated.
The new undergraduate members of Delta Upsilon at Iowa State repainted the original piano white with Sapphire Blue and Old Gold accents and a DU logo on the top as one of the first bonding exercises for our new member education class. 11 of our undergraduates moved the old piano, one stair at a time, into the basement, and we are encouraging our alumni to sign this piece of history when they stop by the chapter house for a $25 donation to the DUEF (Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation). This old piano is truly a piece of DU history at Iowa State, and the funds we raise through alumni donations to this cause will be used to subsidize the costs of sending our undergraduate brothers to programs such as DU Leadership Institute and the Delta Upsilon Regional Leadership Seminars. Through this fund we have had over 25 brothers attend these conferences over the last year and a half. Thank you for all of your continued support!
