A Word from DU Headquarters
This last September, I had the extreme pleasure of working with the young men of the Iowa State Colony of Delta Upsilon. During my stay in the newly remodeled house, I was able to work with the leadership of the colony to help establish the foundation of this ambitious group of men. They have begun to work towards being an active member of the Iowa State Greek Community as well as striving to become a full fledged chapter of Delta Upsilon.
The newly colonized group and I were able to spend part of the weekend on a camping trip, were we began to discuss the notion of brotherhood and learn more about what challenges they would overcome through the course of the year. The young men were able to continue to learn what it means to be in a fraternity by learning more about each other. The group also engaged in several team building activities where they learned important problem solving skills and how to best support each other.
While I only spent two weeks with the Iowa State Colony, I know that this group of men has the potential to be one of the great chapters of Delta Upsilon. The dedicated group of alumni who currently support the Colony have set them on a track to success. I’m sure that alumni who have yet to connect with this new group will soon hear of their accomplishments both on their campus, and at the international level. I am proud of what we were able to accomplish during my time with the Colony.
